Welcome to the third installment of collective poetry from Seattle, WA based poet, Walter Red.
You have stumbled upon a brand-new creation of spirit and imagination—the discovery of a poet’s voice spilling onto pages endlessly for miles, hoping for someone to become lost in the journey it holds.
Split into two volumes, Jupiter Daydreams is the sensation of floating naked under a full moon at midnight, experiencing everything and nothing at the same time. It is the journey into the neurosis of the artist’s personal life, a voyage across the galaxy to the most vicious of places next to The Great Red Spot on Jupiter.
Become enthralled in a mystical daydream of far-off lands, just outside our own minds and atmosphere.
Find yourself dozing off into Jupiter Daydreams.
We could have been gods,
Wearing the galaxy of constellations on our face.
A cosmic revelation
To distinguish the familiarity of
Blood & Wine.
We could have been saviors
To a broken home that only held a temporary value
Of a life forced to gag on dogma.
To break from tradition and learn to
Love each other
Once more again.
Let’s float in the ether of the universe,
Gliding through the sycamore trees (for they hold all of our secrets),
Setting fires to the vast expanse of our summertime romance,
Digesting the sensitivity of our compartmentalized lives in each kiss,
Yearning for another delicate, flourishing memory of what you tasted like.
Did the taste of bourbon—like what wet hot American dreams are made of—set a blaze of forgiveness onto your tongue when I spit myself back in your soul?
Let’s lay in the sunshine of our eternal and spotless minds, falling in love repeatedly under new and strict laws of teaching each other what it means to be human.
“Wake me when it’s spring time in heaven.”
