Do you recall the soap scum dreams of days long gone—
The ones I spoke of so recently, yet altogether like a distant film reel ending,
Burning and curling into oblivion.
Because I do.
The memories of you beating me black & blue, saying it was going to make me grow up to become a man.
Or what about the memory of you holding a knife against my chest,
My pants draped around my ankles like silk sheets on a bed, clasping at my skin with a vigor and desire to never be removed.
Let me showcase the words that indulge me so much. Let me mesmerize you in all the moments that I failed.
Did I flaunt you my emotions so viscerally for no reason, or was there some kind of end game?
Because I’m at a loss for words on what you want and ultimately what I need.
Did you learn to showcase all of yourself in those moments of tangible bliss, throwing your last two cents into the atmosphere as the universe cried out that it wanted you to travel to Jupiter to meet me?
And by me, I mean you.
