ALWYN COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Dedicated to the safety and service of Alwyn County residents.

About The ACSD

Established in 1893, the Alwyn County Sheriff’s Department provides law-enforcement services to the rural communities surrounding Black Glass Lake, Yellowfield Road, and the northern orchard districts.

Originally a two-room outpost near the rail spur, the department expanded through the mid-20th century to support patrol, search-and-rescue, and emergency response across the county’s rugged shoreline and forest regions.

Today, ACSD operates from a small administrative building on County Route 7, housing:

  • Patrol division

  • Dispatch/communications

  • Records & civil services

  • Missing Persons & Investigations

  • Forensic evidence storage

  • Search & rescue coordination

Although the county remains quiet, the department handles a notable number of wilderness-related incidents, water-rescue calls, and missing-person reports tied to the lake region.
