2018 Promotional Photo of Walter

Welcome to the collective workings of poet Walter Red, born in small town LeRoy, WI.

Walter first picked up the pen at the age of 10 and began working on short stories based on nightmares and dreams he experienced at a young age, as well as family turmoil and a broken home. During his youth he created his first screenplay (now lost to the winds) and was published in a local Wisconsin publication for poetry.

High School years he created the first Poetry Club with only a handful of attendee’s, but the drive to hone his skills further into what would create him 18 years later.

Walter moved to Alaska in 2004, and wrote more short stories and attempted to write his first novel (Devil’s Dirty Deeds). A story about the turmoil of living a double-sided life as a police detective who was chasing after a murderer. The dramatic climax leading into the unveiling that the main character was conflicted with mental disorders that created a false-life he lived. (This work was lost along the way as well.)

Early in 2015, after moving to Colorado for 3 years on and off, he picked up his first typewriter in Breckenridge, CO. For $60 he managed to create and begin work on what would become Ghost Writer Publishing (GWP for short). Using an old Montgomery from a second-hand used book store, he started to write vignettes of the people who had crossed his life (in many capacities).

Aptly titled “Characters; A Collection”, it began to be reshaped and molded into something different. A collection of ideas and values that would soon bleed into becoming poetry and not stories. (Again, this collection became lost as well, although some pieces do exist online and in hard-copy format.)

Walter soon moved to Portland, OR in search of a new home, somewhere Ghost Writer could blossom in a vibrant arts community. Two years later, after dealing with a crippling depressive state, he relocated to Seattle, WA with no goals or dreams.

Later that year, on January 1st 2018, he released his first book titled “Death Songs (Or How I Learned to Love Again)”. A collection of 3 years of heart-ache, yearning, lustful intentions, relationship issues, and more. A self-proclamation to the world that you can be vulnerable and sensitive as well as be human.

May 2018, “Days of Lavender” was released. A journey of self-reflection upon experiencing a true break-up and the feelings that follow after in the search to find someone/somewhere. An exploration of regaining identity and learning to stop and smell the roses from time to time, it carries the reader through a garden of flora (Orchids, Lavender, Sage & Cherry-blossoms).

As of 2021, multiple other titles have since been released including:

-Daddyland: The Search (Part I)

-Daddyland: The Hunt (Part II)

-The Whiskey Diaries

-Analog Emotions (Volumes I + II)

-Haunted Memories (OMNIBUS Edition)

-Fresh Cuts: Artifact from 2004-2009

Due to the 2020 Global Pandemic, writing operations ground to a halt after being locked inside for a year and a half. As of 2021, Walter has confirmed the beginnings of a new Untitled Book, as well as completing the final installment of the Daddyland Series. Among other rumors, it is said that a special reprinting of the original version of Death Songs will be slated for re-release sometime in late 2021/early 2022.
